Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein. The legendary guitarist from horror punk kings, the Misfits. returned to prowl the stage after a two-year hiatus from touring., Doyle and his solo band, featuring vocalist Alex "Wolfman" Story (Cancerslug), bassist Brandon Strate, and drummer Wade Murff, brought it to San Antonio on a pleasant evening under the stars and the full moon as well for an intimate performance.
Tonight's crowd seemed to be a mix of young and old fans. Some with their faces painted up some with full-on mohawks and lots of "regular" looking rockers. Doyle's set was fierce and fast with very little fluff in-between, hammering through hits off of his two solo albums. Doyle with his trademark face paint and jet black hair demands attention and those upfront were happy to give it to him. At the end of every song, one lucky person was rewarded with a guitar pick that was thrown up for grabs. The constant beating of his self-made Annihilator guitar and bubble gum bubble blowing is worth the price of admission alone.
If you get the chance check out this legend in the game, do it. Doyle and his band will treat
you to an evening you won't soon forget.
