Following the release of his 2021 solo record, Brighten, Alice In Chains guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell has embarked on his long-awaited solo tour bringing the Brighten Tour to San Antonio's historic Aztec Theater.
The performance would include selections from the new album "Brighten" as well as a few from "Boggy Depot "and "Degradation Trip". Of course, Cantrell would also include a generous helping of Alice In Chains mainstays. covering just about every song you would hope to hear as well as a few deep cuts.
Cantrel and company dove headfirst into “Atone”, the lead single from Brighten to kick thing off. Jerry's band for the tour consists of Tyler Bates (guitar),Greg Puciato (backing vocals),Gil Sharone (drums),George Adrian (bass),Michael Rozon (pedal steel) and Jason Achilles (keyboards) sounded tight and polished. After whipping the crowd into a frenzy with the second song "Them Bones" the whole venue began the loud chants of Jerry, Jerry. If you didn't know better you might think you were at a taping of Springer's show.
With a mixture of solo material and classic Alice songs, it was clear to see why everyone was there, And Cantrell delivered with a heavy dose of Alice In Chains. Ten of the twenty songs on the setlist were AIC songs, including an encore which consisted of three of their biggest hits. It was a great night for a trip back to when flannel shirts and grunge ruled the world.
