Judas Priest brings 50 years of metal to Tech Port Arena in San Antonio 11-23

Updated: May 13, 2023

Judas Priest brought the "50 Heavy Metal Years Tour" to the Alamo city along with long-time tour mates Queensryche. It would be a metal feast provided by these two long-time veterans of the heavy metal scene and San Antonio favorites.

Queensryche would kick the night off with "Queen of the Ryche", the song that no doubt put Queensryche on the heavy metal map. The setlist would cover material from six of the albums .including a pair off the new album 2022's "Digital Noise Alliance"

Following an impressive set from Queensryche ,the "Metal Gods" were set to take the stage. The show kicked off with "Electric Eye" before kicking into "Riding on the Wind" and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'." Priest started the night strong and just kept building, with the 17-song main set filled out with classic tracks like "Never the Heroes," and "Judas Rising," the crowd was pumped and ready for a hell of a night.

Halford , showing no signs of letting up, (even though he is 71) kept the hard-hitting songs coming, occasionally diving deep into the classic Priest catalog. This show was the second of a two-night run and judging by the crowd size they both appeared to be sold out. What a great way to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday.

The night would come to a close with Halford riding out on his Harley for a three-song encore. "Hell Bent for Leather," "Breaking the Law," and "Living After Midnight." complete with a giant inflatable bull that has to be seen to be believed.
