Pantera and Lamb of God thrash the Germania Insurance Ampitheater 8-20

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

Pantera along with Lamb of God celebrated Dimebag Darrel's birthday in the scorching Texas heat 8-20 in Austin Texas. LOG would kick things off with a super heavy set of aggressive, groove-oriented tunes delivered by one of the most intense frontmen in the game Randy Blythe. The band has built quite a loyal following over the years, with a nearly endless touring schedule. Despite the heat, the band was on point, crushing a hour-long mosh pit-inducing set.

It was only fitting that this tour would wind up in Texas for the great Dimebag Darrell's birthday as the bands all celebrated Dime with a shot. The surviving members of Pantera, vocalist Phil Anselmo, and bassist Rex Brown brought together some big names to fill some very big shoes. guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante, would certainly rise to the occasion and do the Abbott brothers proud.

Pantera opened the show with a bang, playing some of their classic hits like “A New Level” and “Mouth for War” telling the crowd, “Every note with play tonight is for Dimebag and Vince. The band sounded great, super tight, and very well rehearsed. Phil Anselmo’s voice was as powerful and gritty as ever. His vocal prowess shined on songs “I’m Broken” and “This Love”! Phil interacted with the crowd a lot, even forgiving them for not being as active as he would like, blaming it on the: "dangerous" heat. The entire show felt more like a homecoming than a rock show. It was truly awesome to see this band bring the music back to the fans who have waited so long and so desperately wanted to hear it. These shows could very well be a new beginning or the ending of Pantera as Phil so eloquently said it. "This shit may never happen again". So better see it while you can.
