Philip H. Anselmo and The Illegals sell out Vibes Event Center 11-12

Philip Anselmo and the Illegals brought the mayhem to the Vibes Event Center in San Antonio Texas to a eager sold out crowd on 11-12. This show was one of only two Texas dates that Phillip and company would be performing the elusive "A Vulger display of Pantera" set. That's right, a set filled with nothing but Pantera songs for your face melting pleasure. San Antonio has long been a stronghold for Pantera ,their music ,Vinny and Dime so what a perfect place to pull this set out.

Show time is set for a 9:45 start and the natives are getting restless. Lights go down and the band wasted no time kicking the show off in high gear with "New Level" and "War Nerve", let the crowd surfing begin. The dual guitar attack of Mike DeLeon and Stephen Taylor was spot on delivering Dimes riffs to perfection. Filling out the "Illegals" lineup is bass player Derek Engemann, and drummer Jose Manuel Gonzalez providing a rock solid foundation.

The band played most of what you would expect at a Pantera show including "Strength Beyond Strength", "Becoming","Im Broken" and "This Love" with a touch of Judas Priests classic "Victim of Changes" mixed in. Much to my surprise (and probably everyone elses) "Cowboys from Hell" and "Cemetery Gates" were not on the setlist.

It was an epic night in San Antonio, filled with legendary Pantera metal. The crowd surfers, the head bangers, and the heavy metal rockers all got exactly what they came for. A great night of metal, from a great time in heavy metal music.
