Stryper bring the yellow and black attack to the Espee 8-10

Stryper and special guests Vixen braved the Texas heat (outdoor concerts in summer in Texas are rarely a good idea) to perform at the recently renovated Espee in downtown San Antonio. Vixen put on a hell of a show, considering the conditions, showing little signs of the near 100-degree temperatures. The ladies of Vixen seemed to be having a good time, engaging with the crowd and dishing out smiles as they performed songs from their one-hour set. The list was filled with classic Vixen songs and a nice helping of Femme Fatale tunes in the mix.

Prior to Stryper taking the stage an announcement was made letting everyone know the set would be split into 2 - 40 minute sessions to provide a much-needed break from the intense heat for both the band and the crowd, which turned out to be a great idea. San Antonio has long been a Stryper town going all the way back to the humble beginning of the band. Taking the stage with "Sing Along Song" the band sounded as good as they ever have. Michael Sweet still has the powerful voice and the band is still spot-on with harmonized backups. The duel guitar solos of Oz Fox and Michael Sweet were on point and something you don't really hear much of in today's music. With a set of classics as well as some new material the 15-song set would have something for everyone. Stryper still has a lot of gas in the tank and I am looking forward to what 2024 has in store.
